A big thanks to the body corporate of Macquarrie units in being proactive in eradicating infestation of Mother in law’s tongue (Sansevieria species) from the Brisbane River bank at St Lucia. Lowndes Landscapes were engaged to remove and restore the area. Coir logs, jute matting and weephose irrigation combined with native plants Dianella caerulea, Dianella longifolia, Dianella revoluta, Lomandra hystrix, Scaevola aemula and Myoporum parvifolium to increase habitat and reduce erosion risks. Some on going maintenance should see the eradication of this most persistent of weeds in the near future. Three cheers for the Body Corporates!
Sansevieria (Mother in laws tongue) is a wicked weed! Tongue cut out. Jute mat down. Plants into the pre-slit jute matting. Digital timer and weephoses- simple and effective home irrigation system that can be removed once the dry times are over.
